Pupil SEND LMI Session

Each session will explore LMI in a fun, Kinesthetic and sensory way. Sessions will include below but can be tailored suit pupils needs and abilities after meeting with school.

Intro to what is a job.
Pick a job prop out the box – explore jobs linked to the prop.
Exploring job sectors and roles via video
Role play entry level jobs – in three sectors Retail, hospitality, business and Admin

All ABOUT ME SESSION
linked to vocational profiling and next steps.

The all about me session is a way to tease information from young people to start building up a picture regarding their future goals. The session is a pupil-centered approach school or college to finding out what a young person wants to do and will be key in supporting positive transitions from school to their next step and to ensure colleges and next step providers have a full picture of the young person’s capabilities and areas for development.

The session will explore what the young people are interested in, what their skills and talents are and it is a way of opening doors to what is possible. It is a motivating session where pupils create their own mood of their present and future – pupils leave feeling they can succeed.

Addressing the needs of each pupil

Mood Boards can be captured to include in pupil profiles to share with Career advisor, LA colleagues, Parents and next step provider.

Careers in The Curriculum Sessions
These sessions can be linked to subjects, curriculum themes or topics included some example activities below, these can be changed to meet pupils needs and abilities and are just examples

1. Technology , Engineering and Construction –Session includes games to explore jobs in these sectors. Whose gloves are these? Whose Hat is this?Whose tools are these?Whose wheels are these?
2. Art and Design – Create work uniforms. Sensory experience trying on different work uniforms then making their own
3. Math’s – Higher or lower game – which job earns a higher or lower salary.
4. Music – Create pieces of music, or a sound collage, to convey the different soundscapes associated with different jobs or sectors.
5. Science – Recycling –Junk Modelling – Green Jobs
6. Math’s – What is Money, What is a bank ?
7. English, literacy, communication –packing my rucksack activity – listening and speaking activity around skills and qualities

Encounters with Employers and Employees
An employer or employee will be sourced for school and they will complete a career talk with young people

SEND Career day – Employers will be sourced to work with pupils through practical activities.
Schools will be consulted, employers will be briefed to ensure the day meets the needs of pupils and activities are meaningful and meet the needs of your pupils.

Experience the Workplace
Workplace tour Half Day
A workplace will be sourced for pupils to experience and meet different employees meeting Gatsby Benchmark 6 via a work place tour

Project Based Work experience
An employer will be sourced and supported to create a project brief to meet the needs of the pupils. Employer will launch project, pupils will work on this in school and employer will revisit to give feedback – meeting Gatsby Benchmark 6

Encounters with Next Step Providers
Transition Fair
Providers will be sourced and briefed and a school next steps/transition fair will be delivered
Provider Access Legislation
A provider will be sourced and briefed to deliver a session which meet the requirements of the provider access and meets the needs of your young people
Parental Support
Parent next step information session

Presentation to parents regarding next steps and options available during parents evening or parent morning

Personal Guidance
SEND experienced Level 6 1-1 Career Advice – 5 pupils per day
Each student will have a detailed plan written up which will be shared with the school

Attendance at pupils’ annual reviews

SEND experienced Level 6 group Career advice session – Maximum 15 pupils – 1 Hour session
